Ottawa falls to Cornwall after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Cornwall Colts battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

Cornwall never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Colts fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Ottawa's Deric Boudreau at 11:50 in the first period. Cornwall tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Michael Borkowski at 41 seconds in the third period. The Colts netted the game winner at 16:06 in the third period on a goal by Borkowski.

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, the Senators face elimination next time out.

Borkowski had one goal and two assists to lead Cornwall.

The Colts forced Ottawa goalie Charlie Millen to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Cornwall also got a goal from Mark Hough as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tylor Spink and Tyson Spink, who each chipped in two.

The Senators were helped by Devon Rice, who grabbed one goal. Rice scored on the power play 11:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Ottawa had taken the advantage when Cornwall's Kyle Baun got sent off for head contact. Ben Robillard picked up the assist. More assists for Ottawa came via Kevin Ryder and Conor Brown, who contributed one a piece.

The Colts' Lukas Hafner stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Millen rejected 40 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
