Cornwall downs Ottawa, 5-1

Stephen Johnson had one point to lead the Cornwall Colts to a 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

The win gave Cornwall a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Cornwall additionally got points from Michael Borkowski, who also registered one goal and two assists and Tylor Spink, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Roman Ammirato also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Kyle Baun, who had two and David Rath, Kevin Hope, Drew Henry, and Brandon Howes, who contributed one a piece.

Ottawa was led by Kevin Ryder, who scored the team's only goal. Ryder scored on the power play 6:35 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Senators had gained a power play chance when Marly Quince was whistled for hooking. Joe Shecter picked up the assist.

Lukas Hafner made 23 saves for the Colts on 24 shots. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Colts ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alexandre Gendron was ejected from the game. Ottawa's Ed Zdolshek stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Senators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
