Nepean downs Smiths Falls in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Nepean Raiders' Kenneth Neil scored 2:49 into overtime to beat the Smiths Falls Bears, 4-3 (OT).

The win moved Nepean to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

The Raiders overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Nepean fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Smiths Falls' Jordan Spavor at 9:24 in the second period. The Raiders tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brent Norris at 16:57 in the third period.

Nepean was led by Neil, who grabbed one goal.

The Raiders kept the Bears' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mackenzie Sawyer made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Nepean also got points from Craig Cowie, who also had one goal and two assists. Ben Hutton also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Dalen Hedges, who had one and Ryan MacLean, who had two.

Smiths Falls' offense rang up 32 shots on Nepean's net.

The Bears were helped by Dean Galasso, who tallied one goal. Galasso scored 3:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls. Cole Allard assisted on the tally. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Connor McLaren as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Nicolas Brazeau and Michael Buonincontri, who each chipped in one.

Matt Zawadzki recorded 29 saves for the Raiders. Nepean incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Smiths Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities. The Bears ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Robbie Hall was ejected from the game.
