Michael Mikulan netted a hat trick to lead the Peoria Mustangs over the Chicago Hitmen, 6-4. Mikulan's first goal came 5:36 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:59 into the third and at 10:38 into the third.The win by Peoria clinched the best of three series at 2-0. The Mustangs made Hitmen's goaltenders to work in net, finishing with 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Brandon Perillo made 24 stops and Joe Olen made four. Peoria also got points from Nathan Chasteen, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Cameron Brown also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Byron Lomow, Dylan Canoy, and Josh Wentz, who contributed one a piece. Chicago's offense rang up 46 shots on Peoria's net. The Hitmen were helped by Collin Warner, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Warner scored the first of his two goals at 15:02 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Kyle Gonzalez picked up the assist. Warner's next tally made the score 3-3 with 1:04 left in the second period. Chicago had gotten the advantage when the Mustangs' Canoy was sent off for tripping. Mike Lozano provided the assist. Chicago additionally got points from Nick Gnagni, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Jeremy Edwards and Jake Howie, who each chipped in one. Michael Parda made 42 saves for Peoria on 46 shots. The Mustangs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Hitmen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
