Delhi downs St. George in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Reid Morrison gave the Delhi Travellers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the St. George Dukes when he scored 4:50 into the extra period.

The win gave Delhi a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

With three goals and one assist between them, Jake Legein and Morrison teamed up to power the Travellers' offense. Legein registered two goals and Morrison also added one goal and one assist.

Delhi's offense rang up 44 shots on St. George's net. The Travellers were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time.

Brad Ward also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Travis Harper, Marty MacDonald, Ethan Werger, and Derek Friesen, who each chipped in one and Jake Durrant and Mike DeCoene, who contributed two a piece.

Delhi was unable to stop the Dukes from sending pucks towards the net, and St. George eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Team could not crack the Travellers' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Dukes were led by Josh Mitton, who grabbed two goals. Mitton scored the first of his two goals at 17:57 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Delhi. Matthew Younger assisted on the tally. Mitton's next tally made the score 4-4 with 1:25 left in the third period. Alex Whiffing provided the assist. St. George additionally got points from Chris Vasile, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. St. George also got a goal from Nick Cole as well. More assists for St. George came via Andrew Huddle, who had one and Josh Wrobel, who had two.

Delhi's Nick Heath stopped 48 shots out of the 52 that he faced. The Travellers registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For Delhi, Mac Scott was ejected from the game. Tanner Armstrong made 39 saves for St. George on 44 shots. The Dukes incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
