The Stouffville Spirit's Christian Finch had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes. Finch scored on the power play 16:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Stouffville had taken the advantage when Newmarket's Adam Davies got sent off for charging. Robert Powers picked up the assist. Finch dished an assist on Chris Porter's goal that made the score 4-2 Stouffville at 7:55 into the third period. He added another helper on Drake Caggiula's goal that made the score 5-2 Stouffville at 19:04 into the third period.The win by the Spirit clinched the best of seven series at 4-3. Stouffville's offense rang up 35 shots on the Hurricanes' net. The Spirit capitalized on Newmarket's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Alex Botten also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Michael Robinson and Paul Geiger, who contributed one a piece. The Hurricanes forced Stouffville goalie Jonathan Hall to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Newmarket was helped by Tyson LeBlanc, who grabbed one goal. LeBlanc scored 6:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Dineen provided the assist. Newmarket also got a goal from David Savery as well. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Bowman Webster, who had one. Jonathan Hall made 31 saves for the Spirit on 33 shots. Stouffville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Matthew Wintjes rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
