Whitby outlasts Kingston, 4-2

The Whitby Fury and the Kingston Voyageurs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Whitby made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Sam Gray secured the win for the Fury with a goal in the third period.

The win gave Whitby a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Fury were led by Gray, who registered one goal. Gray scored on the power play 4:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Whitby. A boarding penalty on Kyle Wilhelm had put Whitby on the power play. Kevin Stevens picked up the assist.

The Fury's offense rang up 46 shots on Kingston's net.

Cameron Smith also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Raguseo, Steven Deeg, Devin Shore, and Matt Davis, who contributed one a piece.

The Voyageurs were helped by Ludlow Harris, who racked up one goal. Harris scored 9:09 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Graham Yeo assisted on the tally. Kingston also got a goal from Brian Nanne as well. More assists for Kingston came via Chad Duchesne, Michael Schug, and Casey Cook, who each chipped in one.

Whitby's Tyler Feaver stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Fury incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Charlie Finn rejected 42 shots on goal for Kingston. The Voyageurs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
