Picton beats Campbellford 4-3 after comeback scare

The Campbellford Rebels tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Picton Pirates held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Mitch Rosborough put Picton up 4-2 in the second period, but Campbellford pulled to within one on Levi George's tally 11:54 into the third period.

With the win, the Pirates evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Rosborough had a great game for Picton, netting two goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:27 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Pirates stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Picton also had goals scored by Dylan Burdick and Tyler Kearns, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Brandon Peever, Jack Davison, Dylan Mountenay, and Brad Jacklin, who each chipped in one.

Campbellford additionally got points from Nick Orton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Josh Adams as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Ryan Crowley, who had one.

Matt Kaludis recorded 27 saves for Picton. The Pirates totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Team's Pat Millington and Burdick were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Campbellford's starting goalie, Jesse Labrecque, made 16 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ben Elliott, who stopped six shots. The Rebels totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Campbellford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chris Klompmaker was ejected from the game.
