Campbellford outlasts Picton, 6-5Prince Edward Thu, Mar 08, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Campbellford Rebels and the Picton Pirates were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Campbellford made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-5. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Joe McKeown secured the win for the Rebels with a goal in the third period. The win by Campbellford broke a deadlock and gave the Rebels a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Campbellford got the win thanks to a great game by Ryan Crowley, who had two goals and two assists. Crowley scored the first of his two goals at 10:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Crowley's next tally made the score 2-2 with 7:10 left in the first period. Levi George assisted on the tally. The Rebels' penalty kill excelled, as Campbellford gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. The Rebels' offense rang up 36 shots on Picton's net. Campbellford also got points from Nick Orton, who also had two goals and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Connor Turland as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Josh Adams and Andrew Doxtator, who each chipped in one. The Pirates forced Rebels' goalies to work without much rest, totaling 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Cole Mahoney - APM made 23 stops and Ben Elliott made 10. Picton was led by Abbott Girduckis, who registered one goal and three assists. Girduckis scored on the power play 15:50 into the third period to make the score 5-5. The Pirates had taken the advantage when Campbellford's Lucas Hooley got sent off for high sticking. Jack Davison picked up the assist. Picton additionally got points from Mitchell Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Evan Greer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Tyler Kearns and Mitch Rosborough, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Wil Healey, Brandon Peever, and Ryan Sizer, who contributed one each. The Rebels incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
