Oakville falls to Georgetown in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Tyson Fawcett gave the Georgetown Raiders a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Oakville Blades when he scored 15:22 into the extra period.

The win by Georgetown broke a deadlock and gave the Raiders a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Georgetown was led by Fawcett, who finished with one goal.

The Raiders stifled Oakville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown forced the Blades goalie James Prigione to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Raiders could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 19 minutes in penalties during the game. The defensemen of Georgetown were also effective in Oakville's zone, and came away with two goals.

Tyler MacPherson also scored for Georgetown. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Jacob Bauchman, who had two and Stephen Genua, Daniel McNamara, and Manny Gialedakis, who each chipped in one.

The Blades' offense rang up 41 shots on the Raiders' net.

Oakville was helped by Conor McGlynn, who racked up one goal. McGlynn scored 7:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Ashton Anderson assisted on the tally. Oakville also got a goal from Phil Hampton as well. More assists for Oakville came via Stefan Thompson, Stephen Hickey, and Brad Kobryn, who contributed one a piece.

Georgetown's Steven Racine stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Raiders registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Emilio was ejected from the game. James Prigione made 33 saves for the Blades on 36 shots. Oakville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
