Georgetown boosted by Racine's play in net, beats Oakville 2-1Mold-Master SportsPlex Wed, Mar 07, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Steven Racine had a standout game with 33 saves, and the Georgetown Raiders beat the Oakville Blades 2-1. The win gave Georgetown a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Raiders were paced by Geoffrey Bagnall, who tallied one goal. Bagnall scored 4:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Daniel McNamara picked up the assist. Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Oakville to score on any of its five power plays. The Raiders kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and James Prigione made 33 saves on 35 shots. Caleb Apperson also scored for Georgetown. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Brendan Woods, Manny Gialedakis, and Nathaniel Domagala, who contributed one a piece. Oakville stifled Georgetown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Blades forced the Raiders goalie Racine to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Oakville was led by Tyler Karius, who scored the team's only goal. Karius scored 1:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Aidan Orbinski provided the assist. Georgetown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
