The New Hamburg Firebirds relied on the scoring touch of Damien Parent, who netted two goals, to beat the Norwich Merchants, 5-1. Parent's tallies came on the power play at 7:07 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Hamburg and on the power play 15:29 into the third to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg.The win by New Hamburg clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Firebirds' Brodij Gerryts was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 35 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Gerryts will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.72. New Hamburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Firebirds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Norwich was unable to stop New Hamburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Firebirds eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. New Hamburg also got points from Sean Kienapple, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. New Hamburg also got a goal from Nick Pope as well. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Kory Nowak, Brandon Yantzi, Trevor Sweetland, and Blake Jordan, who contributed one a piece. The Merchants' offense rang up 36 shots on New Hamburg's net. Norwich was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes. The Merchants were led by Curtis Logan, who scored the team's only goal. Logan scored 9:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norwich. Tom Brady assisted on the tally. The Firebirds registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. Matt McGonigle recorded 32 saves for Norwich.
