A hat trick by Cody Damon was the highlight in Jr. Generals' 6-1 win against the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins. Damon got on the scoresheet 5:44 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:14 into the second and at 13:57 into the second.After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Pittsburgh faces elimination next time out. The Flint Jr. Generals' offense rang up 40 shots on the Jr. Penguins' net. Flint also got points from Derek Compeau, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Lucas McDiarimid, who also registered one goal and one assist. Flint also got a goal from Joshua Kestner as well. More assists for Flint came via Kenneth Miloser, Edward Osowski, Warren Carter, Brent Formosa, and Jake Taylor, who each chipped in one and Richard Jansson and Andrew Lay, who contributed two a piece. Pittsburgh's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Flint power plays. The Jr. Penguins were led by Bryan Hovanec, who scored the team's only goal. Hovanec scored on the power play 12:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh. A cross checking penalty on Carter had put Pittsburgh on the power play. David Mnatsyan assisted on the tally. Dominic Orlando rejected 15 shots on goal for Flint. The Jr. Generals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. Penguins' Sean Keating stopped 34 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Pittsburgh incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
