MISSISSAUGA claims BRONZE as they down AURORA in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

MISSISSAUGA pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over AURORA on a clutch goal by Kelly Mariani.

The win gave MISSISSAUGA the Bronze Medal in the PWHL Championships.

MISSISSAUGA was led by Mariani, who tallied one goal. Mariani scored 4:41 into overtime to make the score 3-2 MISSISSAUGA. Kristyn Capizzano picked up the assist.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four AURORA power plays. MISSISSAUGA forced AURORA goalie Paula Voorheis to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

MISSISSAUGA also got points from Capizzano, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Hilary Lloyd also scored for MISSISSAUGA. Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Nicole Connery, who had two and Mikaela Lowater and Hayley Masters, who each chipped in one.

AURORA was helped by Mackenzie Johnston, who had one goal. Johnston scored 10:18 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Heather Tillsley provided the assist. AURORA also got a goal from Caroline DeBruin(A) as well. In addition, AURORA received assists from Claire McKimm, Alie Brindamour-McClure(A), and Hailey Noronha, who contributed one a piece.

MISSISSAUGA's starting goalie, Liberty McKague, made 13 saves and finished with the win before she was taken out in favor of Alysia DaSilva, who stopped zero shots. MISSISSAUGA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Paula Voorheis made 34 saves for AURORA on 37 shots. AURORA incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
