The Exeter Hawks climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Lambeth Lancers, 3-2. Exeter never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Hawks fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Lambeth's Tanner Smith at 6:03 in the second period. Exeter knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Tim Burtch at 16:25 in the second period. The Hawks scored the game winner at 6:22 in the third period on a goal by Burtch. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Lancers face elimination next time out. Exeter's penalty kill excelled, as the Hawks gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. Exeter's offense rang up 37 shots on Lambeth's net. The Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes. Exeter was led by Josh Brideau, who registered one goal and one assist. Alex Garon also scored for Exeter. More assists for Exeter came via Kalvin Thornton and Wesley McGovern, who contributed one a piece. The Lancers stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Exeter was unable to stop Lambeth from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lancers eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Lambeth was helped by Anthony Sachetti, who tallied one goal. Sachetti scored on the power play 26 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lambeth. The Lancers had gained a power play chance when Thornton was whistled for elbowing. Nick West picked up the assist. The Hawks' Aaron Bedard stopped 41 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Exeter registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. JP Trudell made 34 saves for Lambeth on 37 shots. The Lancers ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Lambeth ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rob Ruggiero was ejected from the game.
