The St. Marys Lincolns relied on the scoring touch of Brady Wiffen, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Thomas Stars, 5-2. Wiffen found the back of the net 4:02 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Marys and again while short handed 11:34 into the second to make the score 4-0 St. Marys.The win by St. Marys clinched the best of seven series at 4-3. St. Thomas was unable to stop the Lincolns from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Marys eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. St. Marys also got points from Brendon Merritt, who also registered one goal and one assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Calvin Penney as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Tyler Bryson, Shayne Rhyno, Blake Thompson, Marcus Gverzdys, and Mike Mandarelli, who contributed one a piece and Mitchell Berzins and Sean Consitt, who each chipped in two. The Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five St. Marys power plays. St. Thomas kept the Lincolns' goalie busy throughout the game, and Devin Golets made 32 saves on 34 shots. St. Marys incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michael Slaats made 33 saves for the Stars on 38 shots. St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
