Stratford survives Waterloo comeback, wins 8-6

The Waterloo Siskins tried their best to erase a five-goal deficit, but the Stratford Cullitons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 8-6.

Stratford took a 8-3 lead during the third period, only to have Waterloo storm back on a Andrew Brubacher goal 19:23 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The win by the Cullitons clinched the best of seven series at 2-4.

Stratford kept the Siskins' goalie busy throughout the game, and PJ Bridges made 53 saves on 61 shots.

The Cullitons were helped by Pat Clifford, who tallied two goals and one assist. Clifford scored the first of his two goals at 1:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Trevor Sauder provided the assist. Clifford's next tally made the score 7-3 Stratford with 6:18 left in the third period. Sauder assisted on the tally. Stratford also got points from Andrew Barton, who also had one goal and two assists. Myles Melchers also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Mike Pleon, who had two and Andrew Lorimer, Tyson Avery, Tyler Marchand, Chett Binning, Ryan Watson, Pat Looby, and Jared Culliton, who contributed one a piece.

Stratford was unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Waterloo was led by Kyle Platzer, who registered one goal and three assists. Platzer scored 3:04 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Stratford. Derick Robertson provided the assist. Waterloo additionally got points from Mike Van Ooteghem, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Adam Campagnolo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Stephen Witiuk, who had two and Kyle Wood (SAPM) and Sean Fennell, who each chipped in one.

Jesse Raymond recorded 29 saves for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Siskins incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
