Grimsby rips Glanbrook, 5-1

The Grimsby Peach Kings had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Glanbrook Rangers.

The win by Grimsby clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Peach Kings pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Grimsby was led by Richard Recchia, who had one goal. Recchia scored 10:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Chris Mcquade assisted on the tally.

The Peach Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Grimsby also got points from Drew Whalen, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Connor Rilett, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Jason McNeil, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Adam Burt, Arie Dendekker, Mathew Paonessa, and Bryce Brochu, who each chipped in one.

Glanbrook put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Grimsby to score on any of its three power plays.

The Rangers were led by Jordan Thomas, who scored the team's only goal. Thomas scored 3:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dilon Ciprietti provided the assist.

Jonathon Dilario made 23 saves for the Peach Kings on 24 shots. For Grimsby, Lucas Dykstra was ejected from the game. Glanbrook's starting goalie, Tyler Leach, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Matt Sagrott, who stopped 10 shots. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
