Tyminski's goals lift Port Colborne to 8-4 victory over Stoney Creek

Behind a great game by James Tyminski, who had four goals, the Port Colborne Pirates defeated the Stoney Creek Warriors, 8-4.

Tyminski notched his first tally 19:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 43 seconds into the second, at 16:01 into the second, and at 18:09 into the second.

With the win, Port Colborne evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Pirates pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Jordan Warren, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Bryan Komasara, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Drake Heart, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Zoran Popel also scored for Port Colborne. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Patrick Murphy, who had three, Carson Minor, Tomas Dychtiar, Mark Lucatra, and Dima Lavrenov, who contributed one a piece, and Nick Schiro and Dayne Phillips, who each chipped in two.

Stoney Creek's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Warriors finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Stoney Creek was led by Roger Sherwood, who grabbed two goals. Sherwood scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stoney Creek. The Warriors had taken the advantage when Port Colborne's Schiro got sent off for delay of game. Mike Casale assisted on the tally. Sherwood's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 10:23 left in the second period. Tyler VanKleef picked up the assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Luke Nogard as well. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Kyle Dube, who had one and Myles Falasca, who had two.

Real Cormier rejected 25 shots on goal for the Pirates. Port Colborne registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Brock Novak made 21 saves for Stoney Creek on 29 shots. The Warriors registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Stoney Creek ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nogard was ejected from the game.
