St. Catharines takes care of Buffalo early, wins 12-3

The St. Catharines Falcons jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Buffalo Jr. Blades, 12-3.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Buffalo faces elimination next time out.

Luke Karaim had one goal and four assists to lead St. Catharines. Karaim scored 13:58 into the third period to make the score 11-3 St. Catharines. Spencer DeWolfe picked up the assist.

The Falcons stifled the Jr. Blades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Buffalo was unable to stop St. Catharines from sending pucks towards the net, and the Falcons eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

St. Catharines also got points from Riley Jakobschuk, who also registered four goals and one assist, Kenny Bradford, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Curtis Longland, who also had one goal and three assists, and Johnson Andrews, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for St. Catharines included Kyle Woodhouse, who had one and Aaron Taylor, who had two. More assists for St. Catharines came via Jesse Miller, who had two, Ben Dubois, who had three, and Nick Hovanessian, Matt Moes, Andy Sturtz, and Dan MacEachern, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines' defense shut down the Jr. Blades' forwards for much of the game, and Buffalo got off only 13 shots during the contest.

The Jr. Blades were helped by Hunter Conboy, who racked up one goal and one assist. Conboy scored 2:30 into the second period to make the score 6-1 St. Catharines. Gavin Abbott provided the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Cody Teijeira as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Dimmitt Perkins, who had one.

Brad Pope recorded 10 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ian Shorthouse rejected 29 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
