Morrissey leads New Hampshire Jr Monarchs over New York Apple Core, 5-2

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' Colin Morrissey had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over New York Apple Core.

Morrissey scored at 27 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire Jr Monarchs and again while 15:28 into the first to make the score 3-1 New Hampshire Jr Monarchs.

The win gave New Hampshire Jr Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New York Apple Core to score on any of its five power plays. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' offense rang up 39 shots on New York Apple Core's net. The defensemen of New Hampshire Jr Monarchs were also effective in New York Apple Core's zone, and came away with four goals.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs additionally got points from Connor Merrick, who also had one goal and one assist. Derek Clark also scored for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. In addition, New Hampshire Jr Monarchs received assists from Brett Boyer, who had three.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs was unable to stop New York Apple Core from sending pucks towards the net, and New York Apple Core eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

New York Apple Core was helped by Patrick Donahue, who grabbed one goal. Donahue scored 1:43 into the second period to make the score 3-2 New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. Charles Fosso assisted on the tally. New York Apple Core also got a goal from Eric Krupka as well. Other players who recorded assists for New York Apple Core were Artie Aymong and Jonathan Novak, who each chipped in one.

Nick Deery rejected 32 shots on goal for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mark Zapson recorded 34 saves for New York Apple Core. New York Apple Core incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
