Junior Bruins beats Suffolk Juniors 11-0 as Iacaboni gets hat trick

Steve Iacaboni lifted Junior Bruins to an 11-0 victory with a hat trick against Suffolk Juniors.

Iacaboni's first goal came 2:38 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:48 into the first and at 4:28 into the third.

The win gave Junior Bruins a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Junior Bruins led 6-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

Shane Benjamin spearheaded the defensive effort for Junior Bruins, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 38 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Benjamin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.75.

Junior Bruins made Suffolk Juniors' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 55 shots and forcing 44 saves. Anthony Pupplo made 22 stops and Hunter Tetreault made 22. Junior Bruins stifled Suffolk Juniors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Junior Bruins additionally got points from Pat Mahoney, who also registered one goal and one assist, Michael Pirovano, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Gabe Lamontagne, who also had one goal and one assist, Zach Sandonato, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Hayden Voss, who also registered one goal and one assist. Daniel Resop also scored for Junior Bruins. In addition, Junior Bruins received assists from Alex Duplessie, Henry Fairbairn, Nelson Pulling, and Paul Martone, who each chipped in one and Robert Houghton, Jonathan Massie, and Nolan Hamilton, who contributed two a piece.

Suffolk Juniors' offense rang up 38 shots on Junior Bruins' net. Penalties took their toll on Suffolk Juniors, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Junior Bruins ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Suffolk Juniors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
