Chris DiNatale had two goals and two assists to lead the Belle River Canadiens to a 10-3 victory over the Mooretown Flags. DiNatale found the back of the net 3:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Belle River and again while 17:35 into the first to make the score 3-1 Belle River.After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Mooretown faces elimination next time out. Belle River pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 25 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:33 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Canadiens forced Flags' goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Andrew Ganter made 13 stops and Seth Hellinga made 13. Belle River was effective with a man advantage, and put in four goals while on the power play. Belle River additionally got points from Mike Ditty, who also racked up four goals and two assists, Blake Jones, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nik Dobrich, who also had one goal and one assist. Branden Larocque also scored for Belle River. More assists for Belle River came via Derek Haskell, who had two, Scott Chauvin, who had three, and Keith Maisonville, Jason Koumaris, and Donnovan Plummer, who contributed one a piece. The Flags' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Mooretown finished with 20 penalty minutes. The Flags were helped by Jeff Schroeter, who tallied one goal. Schroeter scored 14:23 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Belle River. Josh Teschke picked up the assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Michael Gray as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Dan Hachey and Travis Mullen, who each chipped in two. Zakk Olvin recorded 25 saves for the Canadiens. Belle River ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dylan Impens was ejected from the game. Mooretown registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. For the Flags, Calab Harse and Schroeter were ejected from the contest. |
