Jersey Hitmen's comeback falls short, Brewster Bulldogs wins 4-2

The Brewster Bulldogs Bulldogs came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Jersey Hitmen, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Brewster Bulldogs led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bulldogs' David Landau's scored at 14:21 in the first period to put Brewster Bulldogs up 3-0.

The win gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Brewster Bulldogs stifled Jersey Hitmen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Hitmen was unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Brewster Bulldogs eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Bulldogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Brewster Bulldogs was helped by Michael Laffin, who grabbed one goal. Laffin scored short handed 11:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brewster Bulldogs. The Bulldogs played down a man on Troy Lynch's boarding. Joseph Wegwerth picked up the assist. Chad Malinowski also scored for Brewster Bulldogs. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster Bulldogs were Todd Brown, Jake Garay, and Jack Gilson, who each chipped in one.

Jersey Hitmen was helped by Robby Marsanico, who finished with one goal. Marsanico scored 8:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brewster Bulldogs. Cory Sala provided the assist. Jersey Hitmen also got a goal from Justin McKenzie as well. More assists for Jersey Hitmen came via James Martello, who had one.

Brewster Bulldogs' Zachary Geller stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Bulldogs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jordan Hulahan made 37 saves for Jersey Hitmen on 41 shots. Jersey Hitmen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
