A goal by Daniel Fritz put Tampa Bay Juniors up 6-0 in the second period, but Hampton Roads Whalers pulled to within two on Alexander Dempsey's tally 19:09 into the third period.

The win gave Tampa Bay Juniors a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.
