Kingston downs Trenton in overtime, 3-2 (OT)INVISTA Center Thu, Feb 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs' Brian Nanne scored 1:31 into overtime to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks, 3-2 (OT). The win moved Kingston to down 2-0 in the best of seven series. The Voyageurs were led by Nanne, who finished with one goal. Kingston managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Voyageurs ended up below its season average of 10 penalty minutes per game. Kingston additionally got points from Greg Trichilo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kingston got a goal from Kyle Wilhelm as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Graham Yeo, Steve McParland, Matt Eddy, and Ludlow Harris, who contributed one each. Trenton kept Kingston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charlie Finn made 32 saves on 34 shots. The Golden Hawks were helped by Daniel Vernace, who had one goal. Vernace scored 19:22 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Kent McPherson assisted on the tally. Miles MacLean also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Steve Pintaric, Shawn Hulshof, and Spencer Finney, who each chipped in one. The Voyageurs registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Finney turned away 27 pucks between the pipes for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
