Toronto Lakeshore wins tough contest against Vaughan, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Vaughan Vipers.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and James De Haas' goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win by Toronto Lakeshore clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

The Patriots were led by De Haas, who tallied one goal. De Haas scored 11:36 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Toronto Lakeshore. Tyler Enns picked up the assist.

Toronto Lakeshore put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Vaughan to score on any of its four power plays. The Vipers were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Lakeshore eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Ryan Kinsella, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Toronto Lakeshore also got a goal from Kyle Dutra as well. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Brandon Willett, Brody Heleno, and Matt Buckles, who each chipped in one.

Vaughan was helped by Marcus Hinds, who racked up one goal. Hinds scored 11:21 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Mike Vallescuro assisted on the tally. John Carpino also scored for Vaughan. In addition, Vaughan received assists from Matt Silcoff and Robert Ward, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Pianta recorded 28 saves for the Patriots. Toronto Lakeshore incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Victor Adamo made 29 saves for the Vipers on 33 shots. Vaughan incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
