Vaughan boosted by Argiropoulos' play in net, beats Toronto Lakeshore 3-1Al Palladini CC Sat, Feb 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Vaughan Vipers relied on the sparkling performance of George Argiropoulos in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots. The win by Vaughan broke a deadlock and gave the Vipers a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Vaughan was paced by Anthony Mastrodicasa, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mastrodicasa scored 16:59 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Vaughan. Andrew Fullerton assisted on the tally. The Vipers forced Toronto Lakeshore goalie Joseph Pianta to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Vaughan also got points from Mastrodicasa, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Vaughan got a goal from John Carpino as well. More assists for Vaughan came via Steve Hladin, who had two and Matt Silcoff and Mike Vallescuro, who each chipped in one. The Patriots excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Toronto Lakeshore could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Patriots average four goals per game. Toronto Lakeshore was led by Brandon Willett, who scored the team's only goal. Willett scored 45 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Vaughan. Kyle Dutra provided the assist. George Argiropoulos made 26 saves for Vaughan on 27 shots. The Vipers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pianta recorded 46 saves for the Patriots. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
