Tommy Sumi had two goals to lead the St. Michaels Buzzers to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

The win gave St. Michaels a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:19 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Buzzers kept Toronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jamie Phillips made 35 saves on 41 shots.

In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Mark Cooper, who had two and Josh Herrington, Daniel Milne, Erlich Doerksen, David Italiano, Nathan Feric, and Patrick McCarron, who contributed one each.

Toronto was helped by Matt Carey, who finished with one goal and one assist. Carey scored 11:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto. Mike Mirabelli picked up the assist. Toronto additionally got points from David Friedmann, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Toronto came via Jordan Ramsay, who had one.
