Georgetown's Genua deadly on offense in 7-4 win against BurlingtonMold-Master SportsPlex Wed, Feb 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Stephen Genua had two goals to lead the Georgetown Raiders to a 7-4 victory over the Burlington Cougars. Genua found the back of the net on the power play 5:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown and again while 7:13 into the second to make the score 5-2 Georgetown.The win by Georgetown clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. In a losing effort, Burlington was paced by Dan Lomas, who had two goals. Lomas scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. The Cougars earned a power play opportunity when Matt Chiarantano was put in the box for slashing. Cooper Richards picked up the assist. Lomas' next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Georgetown with 17:10 left in the second period. Gavin Shantz assisted on the tally. Burlington was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Raiders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Georgetown also got points from Conor McLoughlin, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brendan Woods, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Alex Lubczuk, who had one and Patrick Megannety, who had two. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Caleb Apperson, who had two, Nick Perruccio, who had three, and Jake Emilio, Tyson Fawcett, Daniel McNamara, Manny Gialedakis, Nathaniel Domagala, and Ryan Lopes, who contributed one a piece. Justin Scott also scored for Burlington. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Slater Doggett, Adam Glynn, and Michael Crocock, who each chipped in one. Steven Racine recorded 24 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars' Alex Murray stopped 35 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Burlington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
