Porter lifts Stouffville over Aurora, 4-1

Chris Porter had two goals to lead the Stouffville Spirit to a 4-1 victory over the Aurora Tigers.

Porter's tallies came at 10:11 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville and on the power play 11:34 into the second to make the score 2-0 Stouffville.

The win by Stouffville clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Aurora was stymied by the Spirit netminder Jonathan Hall, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Hall managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.3 prior to the game.

The Tigers were unable to stop Stouffville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Spirit eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Stouffville also got points from Alex Botten, who also had one goal and two assists. Christian Finch also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Matthew Heffernan, Thomas Tsicos, Christian Powers, and Paul Geiger, who each chipped in one.

Aurora was led by Chad Bennett, who scored the team's only goal. Bennett scored on the power play 19:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stouffville. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when Stouffville's Botten was sent off for handling the puck. Evan Fong provided the assist.

The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brett Sinclair rejected 45 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aurora ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Nice was ejected from the game.
