Toronto Lakeshore wins tough contest against Vaughan, 4-3

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots and the Vaughan Vipers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto Lakeshore made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Kyle Dutra secured the win for the Patriots with a goal in the third period.

The win gave Toronto Lakeshore a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Patriots were sparked by Dutra, who racked up one goal and one assist. Dutra scored 19:41 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Toronto Lakeshore. Brandon Willett provided the assist.

Toronto Lakeshore stifled Vaughan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Toronto Lakeshore got a goal from Alex D Oliveira as well. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Doug Bonar and Matt Buckles, who contributed one each and Shane Cavalieri and Luke Shiplo, who each chipped in two.

The Vipers were helped by Andrew Fullerton, who finished with one goal and one assist. Fullerton scored 15 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Vaughan. Steve Hladin assisted on the tally. Vaughan also got points from Hladin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Travis Fulton also scored for Vaughan. Other players who recorded assists for Vaughan were Kyle Thacker, Anthony Mastrodicasa, and Michael Apreda, who contributed one each.

Joseph Pianta made 25 saves for the Patriots on 28 shots. Toronto Lakeshore incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Victor Adamo turned away 23 pucks between the pipes for Vaughan. The Vipers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
