Blaney's big game bests Buffalo in 5-0 Oakville win

Kyle Blaney was all over the ice for the Oakville Blades, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Oakville's 5-0 win over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

Blaney found the back of the net 17:47 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Oakville and again while on the power play 1:30 into the third to make the score 4-0 Oakville.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Buffalo faces elimination next time out.

The Blades forced Jr. Sabres' goalies to work without much rest, ripping 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. Parker Gahagen made 23 stops and Curran McNamara made eight. Oakville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Oakville also got points from Blaney, who also had two goals and two assists, Brandon Denham, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Tyler Karius, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Oakville got a goal from Martin Kudla as well. More assists for Oakville came via Phil Hampton, who had two and Bradley Ryan and Stefan Thompson, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Sabres could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Buffalo averages three goals per game.

James Prigione recorded 24 saves for the Blades. Oakville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Sabres incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
