Oakville outlasts Buffalo, 5-3

The game between the Oakville Blades and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Oakville emerged with a 5-3 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler Karius at 19:39 of the second period.

The win moved the Blades to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

Oakville was sparked by Karius, who registered one goal and one assist.

The Blades could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Ashton Anderson, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Oakville additionally got points from Kyle Blaney, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Brandon Denham, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Karius, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Oakville got a goal from Conor McGlynn as well. More assists for Oakville came via Stefan Thompson, who had two and Sean Federow and Shane Kinsella, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Jr. Sabres are averaging two goals against for the season.

Buffalo was led by Josh Kielich, who registered one goal and one assist. Kielich scored 1:31 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Nick Berst picked up the assist. Buffalo also got points from Kielich, who also had one goal and one assist. Max Mikowski also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Jacob Ledyard, Chris Luker, and Mark Arnone, who contributed one each.

Oakville's James Prigione stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Blades registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Oakville, Tye Campbell was ejected from the game. Parker Gahagen made 22 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 26 shots. Buffalo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
