Huge game by Davison boosts Picton over Port Hope, 6-2

Jack Davison had two goals and two assists to lead the Picton Pirates to a 6-2 victory over the Port Hope Panthers.

Davison found the back of the net 19:39 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Picton and again while 1:27 into the third to make the score 5-2 Picton.

The win moved Picton to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

The Pirates' penalty kill excelled, as Picton gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The referees were busy during the game, as 28 penalties were assessed during the course of the contest.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:52 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Pirates stifled Port Hope's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Picton forced the Panthers goalie Justin Urquhart to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. The Pirates' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Picton finished with 31 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Tyler Kearns, who totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.

Picton additionally got points from Evan Greer, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Scott Boultbee, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dylan Mountenay also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Brandon Peever, Pat Millington, and Ryan Sizer, who each chipped in one.

The Port Hope penalty box was a busy place as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The Panthers had been averaging 25 minutes in penalties per game. Port Hope's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 45 shots put on the Pirates' net. The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Picton to get one power play goal on 14 chances.

Port Hope was led by Brad Heykoop, who racked up one goal and one assist. Heykoop scored 16:49 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Picton. Tyler Park provided the assist. Port Hope got a goal from Chris Jones as well.

Matt Kaludis made 43 saves for the Pirates on 45 shots. For Picton, Millington and Kearns were ejected from the contest. Urquhart recorded 47 saves for the Panthers. Team's Heykoop and Logan Arsenault were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
