The New Hamburg Firebirds tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Aylmer Spitfires would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Aylmer made the score 3-0 on a goal by Adam Brisson at 43 seconds in the third period, and New Hamburg got as close as 3-2 when Andrew Boer scored 10:28 into the third period. With the win, the Spitfires evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Aylmer was paced by Brisson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. The defensemen of the Spitfires were also effective in the Firebirds' zone, and came away with two goals. Aylmer additionally got points from Brisson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Cody Underhill also scored for Aylmer. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Scott Walker, who had one and Todd Laurindo, who had two. New Hamburg forced Aylmer goalie Brian Valentine to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. New Hamburg got a goal from Sam Murray as well. More assists for New Hamburg came via Sean Kienapple, who had one. Valentine recorded 40 saves for the Spitfires. Aylmer incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Firebirds' Brodij Gerryts stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. New Hamburg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
