Orton's hat trick boosts Campbellford over Amherstview, 6-2

Nick Orton lifted the Campbellford Rebels to a 6-2 victory with a hat trick against the Amherstview Jets.

Orton's first goal came 7:37 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:37 into the second and at 19:00 into the second.

With the win, Campbellford avoided elimination to make the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:59 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Rebels' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amherstview power plays. Campbellford forced Amherstview goalie Zach DeSousa to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Campbellford also had goals scored by Ryan Crowley, Josh Adams, and Dylan Baxter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Steven Clarke, who had two and Andrew Doxtator and Levi George, who contributed one each.

The Jets were helped by Brandon Verkerk, who finished with one goal. Verkerk scored 3:13 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Brett Elder assisted on the tally. Amherstview also got a goal from Nic Pascoal as well. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Cassidy Bruni, who had one.

Jesse Labrecque rejected 21 shots on goal for the Rebels. Campbellford totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For the Rebels, Chris Roy was ejected from the game. DeSousa recorded 39 saves for Amherstview. The Jets ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Amherstview ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Hulton was ejected from the game.
