Campbellford falls to Amherstview in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Dustin Kennedy gave the Amherstview Jets a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Campbellford Rebels when he scored 3:12 into the extra period.

The win by Amherstview broke a deadlock and gave the Jets a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Brandon Gilmour was all over the ice for Amherstview, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Gilmour scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:01 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Amherstview. A tripping penalty on Tyler McKown had put the Jets on the power play. Dan Chadwick picked up the assist. Gilmour's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Amherstview with 4:05 left in the second period. Nic Pascoal assisted on the tally.

Amherstview's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Jets average three goals per contest. The defensemen of Amherstview were also effective in Campbellford's zone, and came away with three goals.

Amherstview also got points from Kennedy, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Gilmour, who also registered two goals and two assists, Liam Vanburen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Pascoal, who also had one goal and two assists. Jesse Stone also scored for Amherstview. More assists for Amherstview came via Isaac DeSousa and Jordan Davison, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels forced the Jets goalie Zach DeSousa to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Campbellford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Levi George, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

The Rebels were helped by Darryl Thompson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Thompson scored 15:34 into the third period to make the score 5-5. George picked up the assist. Campbellford additionally got points from Nick Orton, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Connor Turland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Thompson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Campbellford got a goal from Justin Crowley as well. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Josh Adams, who had one and Steven Clarke and Ryan Crowley, who each chipped in two.

DeSousa turned away 32 pucks between the pipes for Amherstview. The Jets incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Campbellford's Jesse Labrecque stopped 20 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Rebels registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Campbellford ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Doxtator was ejected from the game.
