Campbellford beats Amherstview 8-1 as George gets hat trick

The Amherstview Jets could not stop the Campbellford Rebels' Levi George, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-1 win.

George notched his first tally 4:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:52 into the second and at 16:48 into the second.

With the win, Campbellford evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Rebels led 4-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

Campbellford's Jesse Labrecque was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Labrecque certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest.

The Rebels made Jets' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Zach DeSousa made 24 stops and Pat Nadeau made nine. Campbellford stifled Amherstview's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rebels found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Campbellford averages five goals per game. The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was George, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Campbellford additionally got points from Joe McKeown, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Lucas Hooley, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Campbellford got a goal from Ryan Crowley as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Steven Clarke, who had two and Chris Klompmaker, Nick Orton, Darryl Thompson, Dylan Baxter, Tyler McKown, Seamus McDougall, and Justin Crowley, who contributed one each.

Campbellford was unable to stop the Jets from sending pucks towards the net, and Amherstview eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Jets were led by Danny Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 15:26 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Campbellford. Cassidy Bruni picked up the assist.

The Rebels registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Amherstview incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
