The St. George Dukes relied on the sparkling performance of Tanner Armstrong in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Tavistock Braves. St. George evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven. The Dukes were led by Jamie Snow, who tallied one goal. Snow scored on the power play 4:18 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. George. St. George had gained a power play chance when James McCorquodale was whistled for interference. Josh Wrobel assisted on the tally. The Dukes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tavistock to score on any of its five power plays. St. George also got a goal from Andrew Swaniga as well. In addition, St. George received assists from Pat Bates, who had one. The Braves kept St. George's goalie busy throughout the game, and Armstrong made 33 saves on 34 shots. Tavistock was led by Jeremy Munro, who scored the team's only goal. Munro scored 6:11 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. The Dukes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Luke Zehr made 24 saves for the Braves on 26 shots. Tavistock incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
