The St. George Dukes took the lead against the Tavistock Braves in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory. A goal 9:50 into the the first period by Josh Mitton proved to be the game winner, and powered St. George to the victory Chris Vasile picked up the assist.The win by the Dukes broke a deadlock and gave St. George a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. The Dukes were boosted by Tanner Armstrong, who turned in a shutout with 35 saves. St. George was paced by Mitton, who racked up one goal. The Dukes stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. George was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Dukes allow two goals per game. In addition, St. George received assists from Nick Cole, who had one. The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven St. George power plays. Tavistock was held below its usual level of production. The Braves put an average of two pucks into the net per game. Tavistock's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 35 shots put on St. George's net. The Braves' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Tavistock finished with 14 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Charlie Rowland, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Dukes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Luke Zehr made 21 saves for the Braves on 22 shots. Tavistock registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
