Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Exeter Hawks were able to defeat the North Middlesex Stars, 5-2.

The win by Exeter clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The referees were busy during the game, as 18 penalties were assessed during the course of the contest.

The Hawks were sparked by Kalvin Thornton, who had one goal and one assist. Thornton scored 5:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Exeter. Rob Brock picked up the assist.

Exeter was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Hayden Cann, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one misconduct.

The Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Kyle Bent, who totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one misconduct.

North Middlesex was helped by Tyler Kettler, who grabbed one goal. Kettler scored 4:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Exeter. Chris Salmi provided the assist.
