Connor Knapman gave the North Middlesex Stars a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Exeter Hawks when he scored 2:40 into the extra period. The win moved North Middlesex to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Stars got the win on the strength of a great game by Chris Wilson, who had two goals and one assist. Wilson scored the first of his two goals short handed at 16:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 North Middlesex. North Middlesex found itself down a man on Mike Slegers' head contact. Brodie Balcom picked up the assist. Wilson's next tally short handed made the score 3-2 North Middlesex with 4:42 left in the third period. The Stars had gained a power play chance when Braden Connolly was whistled for interference. Tommy Prokes provided the assist. North Middlesex's penalty kill excelled, as the Stars gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays. North Middlesex forced Exeter goalie Aaron Bedard to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Stars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Slegers, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one misconduct. North Middlesex was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances. North Middlesex also got points from Balcom, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for North Middlesex came via Chris Salmi, Alex Davis, and Kyle Bent, who each chipped in one. The Hawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Bobby Raine turned away 44 pucks between the pipes for North Middlesex. Bedard recorded 37 saves for the Hawks.
