Jacob Patterson netted a hat trick to lead the Mitchell Hawks over the Hanover Barons, 7-1. Patterson got on the scoresheet 5:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:18 into the second and at 14:01 into the second.The win by Mitchell clinched the best of seven series at 2-4. Hanover trailed by one after the first period, but the Hawks went into the second intermission with a 5-1 lead and never looked back. Mitchell's Drew Reinhardt was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Reinhardt managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.12 prior to the game. The Hawks bested their season scoring average. This season, Mitchell averages three goals per contest. The Hawks had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 19 chances. Mitchell could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Dillon Drinkwalter, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mitchell additionally got points from Jade Maxwell, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Tyler Masson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Mitchell got a goal from Jalen Aitcheson as well. Hanover's starting goalie, Mitch Campbell, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Derick Mitchell, who stopped four shots. The Barons registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Team's Reid Hay, Daniel Hnatko, Jason Demetrius, and Cooper were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
