Walkerton downs Wingham in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Andy Mitchell gave the Walkerton Hawks a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Wingham Ironmen when he scored 18:51 into the extra period.

The win moved Walkerton to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

The Hawks' penalty kill excelled, as Walkerton gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Hawks were led by Mitchell, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Walkerton could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Hawks put an average of seven pucks into the net per game. Walkerton kept Wingham's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeff Puddephatt made 45 saves on 49 shots.

The Hawks were unable to stop the Ironmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Wingham eventually piled up 58 shots on goal.

Walkerton also got points from Matt Hill, who also registered one goal and one assist. Shane MacDonald also scored for Walkerton. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Mike Bujold, who had two and Jay Thomson, Adam Alexander, Eric Lekun, and Haden Campbell, who each chipped in one.

The Ironmen were helped by Wade Stephenson, who registered one goal. Stephenson scored 5:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Joel Bowman assisted on the tally. Wingham got a goal from Steve Hutchison as well. In addition, Wingham received assists from Darren Kerr, who had one and Aaron Armstrong, who had two.
