Friedmann leads Toronto over North York, 6-3

Behind a great game by David Friedmann, who had one goal and four assists, the Toronto Junior Canadiens defeated the North York Rangers, 6-3.

Friedmann got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 7:17 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Toronto. Toronto had gotten the advantage when North York's Ernesto Valente was sent off for roughing. Jordan Ramsay picked up the assist. Friedmann dished an assist on Matt Carey's goal that made the score 1-0 Toronto at 5:25 into the first period. He then added assists on Joseph Santino's goal at 17:53 into the first, on Peter Kazakis' goal at 18:06 into the first, and on Carey's goal at 16:05 into the second.

The win by the Junior Canadiens clinched the best of five series at 1-3.

Toronto took advantage of the Rangers' penalties and slotted in three goals on the power play.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 15 penalties during the game.

The Junior Canadiens' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five North York power plays. Toronto forced North York goalie Leo Podolsky to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Junior Canadiens could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Toronto additionally got points from Friedmann, who also tallied one goal and four assists, Carey, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Ramsay, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Santino, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Mike Mirabelli, who had one and Bryson Cianfrone, who had two.

The Rangers' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 42 shots put on Toronto's net. North York got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Rangers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Luke Colavecchia, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one misconduct.

North York was helped by Spencer Murphy, who had one goal. Murphy scored 14:33 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Toronto. BJ Salerno assisted on the tally. Lukas Pozgay also scored for North York. In addition, North York received assists from Mark Friedman, Adam Valadao, Chris Smith, and Scott Maguire, who contributed one each.

Jamie Phillips recorded 39 saves for the Junior Canadiens. Leo Podolsky made 26 saves for the Rangers on 32 shots.
