Toronto survives North York comeback, wins 3-1

The North York Rangers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Toronto Junior Canadiens would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

A goal by David Friedmann put Toronto up 3-0 in the third period, but North York pulled to within two on Adam Valadao's tally 19:22 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, the Rangers face elimination next time out.

The Junior Canadiens were led by goalie Jamie Phillips, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Phillips certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.35 entering the contest.

Toronto's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four North York power plays.

North York could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Rangers average five goals per game. North York forced the Junior Canadiens goalie Phillips to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.
