Whitby boosted by Feaver's play in net, beats Lindsay 3-1

The Whitby Fury relied on the sparkling performance of Tyler Feaver in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Lindsay Muskies.

After the loss made the series score 0-2 in the best of five series, Lindsay faces elimination next time out.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 19 penalties during the game.

Whitby was led by Matt Davis, who had one goal and one assist. Davis scored short handed 5:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Whitby. An interference call on Cameron Smith put the Fury on the penalty kill.

Whitby forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14 minutes per game the Fury had been spending in the box. Whitby stifled the Muskies' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Fury forced Lindsay goalie Tanner Davis to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Mike Hennessey also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Steven Deeg, Charles Cooper, and Peter Neal, who contributed one each.

The the Muskies penalty box was a busy place as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Lindsay surpassed its season average of 16 penalty minutes per game. The Muskies' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 35 shots put on Whitby's net.

Lindsay was led by Jake Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 12:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. JC Campagna assisted on the tally.

The Fury's Feaver stopped 34 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Whitby registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Fury ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jack Lewis was ejected from the game. Davis turned away 31 pucks between the pipes for the Muskies. Lindsay registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. For the Muskies, Patrick Thornton was ejected from the game.
