University of Central Florida falls to College of the Canyons in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

Ben Conroy gave College of the Canyons a 7-6 (OT) victory over University of Central Florida when he scored one second1 seconds into the extra period.

College of the Canyons came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. College of the Canyons trailed 6-3 after a goal by University of Central Florida's Brendan McGowan at 5:09 in the third period. College of the Canyons knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Conroy at 19:26 in the third period.

College of the Canyons racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. College of the Canyons had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. College of the Canyons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow University of Central Florida to score on any of its 12 power plays. College of the Canyons kept University of Central Florida's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tony Planamento made 28 saves on 35 shots.

College of the Canyons was led by Brian Voogt, who registered three goals and three assists. College of the Canyons additionally got points from Billy Knights, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for College of the Canyons were Wayne Ravdjee and Justin Apcar-Blaszak, who each chipped in two.

University of Central Florida excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. University of Central Florida forced College of the Canyons goalie Taylor Spesak to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

University of Central Florida was led by Connor Cafferty, who racked up two goals and two assists. Cafferty scored the first of his two goals at 5:00 into the second period to make the score 3-2 University of Central Florida. Josh Drazin assisted on the tally. Cafferty's next tally made the score 5-2 University of Central Florida with 5:44 left in the second period. Jake Ninko picked up the assist. University of Central Florida also got points from Corey Bloxam, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Danny Jackson also scored for University of Central Florida. In addition, University of Central Florida received assists from Renny Whidden, who had one.

Spesak rejected 29 shots on goal for College of the Canyons. University of Central Florida incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
