Davenport University rips College of the Canyons, 8-2

Davenport University had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over College of the Canyons.

Davenport University got the win behind a great game by Mike Soto, who had two goals and one assist. Soto scored the first of his two goals at 18:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Davenport University. Chad Ouellette assisted on the tally. Soto's next tally made the score 6-0 Davenport University with 11:07 left in the second period. Sam Waldhart provided the assist.

Davenport University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow College of the Canyons to score on any of its four power plays. College of the Canyons was unable to stop Davenport University from sending pucks towards the net, and Davenport University eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Others who scored for Davenport University included Ben Duthler, who had two and Garrett Garber, Adam Lippert, and Nick Turcotte, who each put in one. In addition, Davenport University received assists from Zachary Bodziak, Tommy Barabe, Zack Feher, Leo Donovan, and Jordan Steger, who contributed one a piece and Bryon Guerin and Daniel Hume, who each chipped in two.

College of the Canyons stifled Davenport University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

John Cruse rejected 24 shots on goal for Davenport University. Davenport University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. College of the Canyons' Taylor Spesak stopped 38 shots out of the 46 that he faced. College of the Canyons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
